Elsinore, Calif. I was born there. The story about how the town got it's name (Lake Elsinore) was something like this: Some Mexicans were sitting around a camp fire at the edge of Lake Elsinore as a couple of gringos approached them. The gringos asked the Mexicans if they had any water. The Mexicans pointed at the lake and said they could help themselves. The gringos went to the lake and scooped up the water to drink and spit it out immediately. They looked at the Mexicans who were laughing and one of them said: "Si, it is water, but it tastes like (H)ell, Senor".
I know, pretty dumb, but when I was a little kid I thought it was pretty funny.
