You need to let the blow by out of the engine, or it will blow out someplace- like a rear main, or the dip stick tube.

Stock engines have one hose form one rocker cover to the pcv valve, the other r/c has a hose to the air filter housing. This gives a cross flow system. You want the escaped gasses to get out, or they turn to sludge in the oil.

Brand new aluminum covers may need to have holes drilled, or knock-outs pounded out, or you have no ventilation.
