I'm replacing the gasket on the thermostat housing on my B-1. I was always told by my old mechanic friend, who is no longer around, that you should only use sealer between the gasket and the housing and not on the block. Or between the block and the gasket and not on the housing. His reasoning was that the gasket, not the sealer, is what prevented the leaks and the less sealer you use, the easier it is to replace it later. The instructions on the sealer say to coat ALL surfaces. Who's right? Thanks. JH
