Chris, I too use cheaters inside my Jackson auto darkening hood .I have really crappy eyes and I have to weld close to the work, and yes there are times where I lose the puddle so I guess you could call me a blind seeing eye dog.My partner in the shop has a fancy Chinese helmet and I couldn't use it at all. My 2 cents, enjoy old age,weld by feel and get a good helmet.
