When I purchased Heliotool's engine conversion kit for my WDX, instructions were provided and followed for moving the stock radiator forward and shortening the water pump etc to accommodate the 318. With this you are supposed to be able to use the old fan that originally came with the truck . Here's my problem : I have no room for any kind of fan behind the radiator! I have a 318 made in 1972 with an NP 435 transmission ( another issue is the short drive line from the tranny to the transfer case is too long and will have to be shortened!) One person told me that a 1972 318 is longer than a 64-68 318 (a range of engines suggested by Heliotool) and that's why a problem exists with the fan and the drive shaft. Based on what I see my only option is to buy an electric pusher fan and shroud and put it in front of the radiator and I'm not sure this arrangement will work here in AZ. So why do I have these issues and what's the solution? If I don't respond quickly it's because I went out for another 6 pack. Sheeze!
