Starter Problem

I got the new head gasket installed and torqued the head down properly. Started it but the engine died because I had not given it enough choke. I went to restart it and the starter would not spin, make a noise or anything. I think the starter switch finally went out, it has been quirky in the past. Is this difficult to change or should I take it to a starter shop??? Robert N.
