So, I was driving my 2004 Ram tonight and it just quit running. The truck has 84,441 miles and has never given me any problems in the 40,000 miles I have owned it. I was going 55 and the motor acted like I turned the key off. The truck is a manual and I was in sixth gear at the time so I coasted to a stop. The tach still registered the engine rpm's as I was slowing down since the truck was still in gear. After I got off to the side of the road I tried to restart the truck..... the truck started and ran for about 5 seconds and quit. I cycled the key and listened for the fuel transfer pump and heard nothing. I removed the lid to the fuel filter and found approx 3/4 of an inch of fuel in the bottom of the container. We cycled the key 10 times and the fuel level never changed. I couldn't hear any noise coming from the fuel tank when we cycled the key as well. Is it safe to assume the fuel transfer pump has gone bad? Is this sort of problem covered under the 100,000 mile engine warranty? Oh, the worst part.... I had to be towed by a Ford!!!

Thanks,

Jon Martin
