Hi Brett.
Yes, I understand that bracket to be an alignment for the crank. You would have to unwind all of the cable to crank the engine, but I guess if you were stranded somewhere with a dead battery it would be better than walking. There are matching bolt holes that allow the bracket to be rotated 90 degrees to get the crank through. Maybe someone who has actually done this will comment. JH
