Dont know how you are getting times two clunker cash. You trade in a vehicle if it qualifies and depending on it and the vehicle you are buying you get 3500$ or 4500$. My boss at the shop did this a week ago. He had a 1990 Jeep GC that was used up. Clunkered it on a new T&C minivan and got 3500$. No other incentives or deals apply to the clunker deal. Its 4500$ off the price of the vehicle. I have heard some dealers dont budge off of sticker price if its clunker deal.

Another thing I thought was funny is little economy cars of that era dont qualify. My little 1986 Honda Prelude would not work for a clunker trade in. Friends Ford Escort approaching 300000miles doesnt qualify either.

You would get 4500$ if you traded your 1998 GMC in on a Honda Civic sized car.
