Depending on condition of frame, I have used 8 bags max. I believe they are 70# bags.

You can save a lot of black beauty if you do some work prior to blasting. Work on the frame with a good puddy knife, wire brush etc. Remove all the large clumps of grease/dirt/crud. When the black beauty blast hits these soft gooey clumps, it acts like a blast absorber. Given enough time it will remove the clumps but with a lot of wasted material. Prior removal of the real crud will save you work and black beauty.

Once the frame is reasonably clean, then the black beauty will cut fast and clean to remove paint/rust and real hard crud. As I mentioned, once you have a bright and shiny frame, then select the primer you want ot use followed by top coat. You now have a life time job. Building a truck on top of coated rust is like building a house on a termite city.......it is not going to last for a l o n g time. Ask if you want suggestions on coatings.

Cleaning and blasting a truck is a nasty job, but in the long run, you will smile knowing its permanent.
