There is only one way to be sure you have completely killed the rust. The frame should be blasted so its totally bright and shiny. Then you have a choice of coatings. All my frames are blasted bright and shiny, then coated with Pickle X 20, then PPG Epoxy Primer, then Hardened PPG MOA Chassis Black.

In 'my opinion' its wasted time and money to coat a rusted frame with the available rust coating products. Either the product will peal off or the rust will come back and bite you. Time and money wasted. Di it right one time and it will be for your life time and probably your kids lifetime.
