I found one of the rubber boots the hard way. I was in a Junk Yard buying some parts off of a 1992/1993 and saw that rubber boot. I took it off and at first thought that it was something a farmer did. Then I noticed that the end where it slip's over the coupler is molded, it's sqaure in the corners and round in the middle to fit the coupler perfect.
So I took it to the dealer where I had been buying the coupler parts and showed it to them and they said oh yeah I can get you one of those it was a TSB, I asked him why didn't you tell me about them before? He said you never asked,, It turned out I got the last one in their warehouse.
I had a 1991 (non-IC) that the pigtail you talk about was but-luged on so I always thought that it had melted at one point.
The only other real electrical problems I have had is the headlight switchs in my 1993 but I got that under control now. Oh and I had a 1992 that had about every "type" of light you could buy at a truck stop on it, even little lights on the mud flaps, that guy was a real red-neck and he didn't do that good of a job wiring it all in either, I spent a two day weekend removing lights and horns, and fixing all the wires so everything would work right. What a pain that was!!!
