I would use a lot of bent laminations, epoxied or Urac.

The pinnacle of wooden construction is modern boat building. Wood-composite. I did a lot of it in my custom furniture business, either bent laminations for strength and curves, or vacuum bagging curved 'panels'.

On Steve's, I would have done bent laminations for the cowl and the long roof headers. Saves lumber and labor, since you build up just enough material you have less shaping to do. I don't know that they didn't.

But I think if I wanted a woody PW, I'd start with an M-37, and make a squarish one, ala the Model 'T' era, rather than the curved 40s-50s design. Just personal taste.
