I have a friend that has a /6 in his 1981 Dodge 1/2-ton pickup, it has less then 135k miles on it and does not use oil.

The truck is missing like it is running on 5 cyls. So we pulled the plugs and 5 out of the 6 plugs looked real good and clean.

The plug from #6 was black and smelled like gas. So we did a compression test on #6 and is was 125 lbs. I think that that is within spec no?

So he thinks that it might have a stuck ring so he put ATF in the cyl over night and the on the morning we cranked the enige over to exspell the atf put in the old pulg and ran in until warm and it stopped smoking, and pulled the old plug out and put in a new one.

The truck ran great for a few days and then it starts missing again so he pulls the #6 plug and its black again and smells like gas.

We have checked the plug wires for spark and continuity they put out good readings.

He is still thinking it is a stuck ring? He did put about a half quart of ATF in the crankcase also when he changed the plug thinking that might help loosen up the ring.

I would like to help him get it running better. Any ideas as what might be wrong??
