It sounds like the consensus is fuel rather than timing, which makes sense because it acts like some of my 230s did when the accelerator pump wasn't working, and those engines don't even have a vacuum advance on the spark. I haven't had a chance to look into it any more yet. I'll probably need to do that Sunday or Monday, which are the only days now when they're only running the new (diesel) trolley.

I suppose its possible that accelerator pumps die slowly rather than suddenly, and even though it's squirting some gas in, it's not enough. I will also sniff around with propane to see if there are any vacuum leaks. The trolley actually has a vacuum gage on the dash, so it should also be easy to see if the vacuum seems high enough, though I don't know what's normal for a slant 6. It seems to idle decently enough (once it's warm) for a 35 year old bus, so if it has a vacuum leak, it's not a big one. There are only two vacuum hoses -- one to the distributor and one to the gauge. No smog stuff on this engine.
