The vinyl was glue directly to the metal. Sparing with the glue there, I wanted to maximize my chances of being able to peel it off of the OE parts. But those kinds of parts are exactly what the Water Proof Backer board is sold for. It was just easier to reuse the metal. Glue the vinyl on, then feel for the holes for handles, and cut them out with a sharp knife.

I other applications, I would have used a 1/4" layer of foam. Like I did on my boat. But I didn't think that poofy look was appropriate to the FFPW.

Be sure to get the high temp/headliner glue. I used Spray 77 first time, and my headliner came un stuck, just like a modern truck!

The tan vinyl was quite a light weight. Note I didn't use it on the sitting surfaces, there I used a kind of pig-skin texture/pattern microsuedo or such. Fuzzy a bit. Luckily, a very good color match. I also used the thin vinyl to re-cover the foam door windlass to match. Slit the windlass to get the round foam, then again sew it with a zipper foot on the machine. I bought the rest of the bolt last trip to that store, now I'll need it to do a new head liner to fit the extension job of the cab.

There sure are trade offs to living in a big city. I've got 3-4 upholstery fabric shops to try, But then I can't afford the space to have 12-50 PWs in my yard.
