The Epoxy Primer I'm using(PPG DPLF) has to be coated within one week or you have to scuff sand for adhesion. Normally not a problem as epoxy is not your filler/sandable primer. I normally put on my sandable primer(k36) within 24 hours.
I have gone directly to topcoat after epoxy as it is a sealer primer if not disturbed. If surface is smooth enough before any paint is applied, you can get a really smooth finish. Of course, your gun has to be adjusted right to get ANY smooth finish. If you'd like a pic, email me.
