The brass fitting at the block is just that, a brass fitting. Into the side of a cylindrical 'cap' gizmo with a bolt through it. Loosen the flare nuts at each end of the pipe, then remove the bolt in the center of the 'cap' at the block. The 'pcv' valve is all steel, and should be disassembled for cleaning. Inside is a conical part and a spring. The conical part should have a pun hole in the end, about 1/16".

There was another name for the pcv valve in pre-smog days, Johnson valve? Donaudamphshiffekapitansbesteckerielingslieb valve?
