I have to speak up on this one. I have 2 trucks that are quite different. I like both trucks very much and both have there own character. The ffPW is basically stock and the Carryall is modified. The carryall had the V8 in it when I bought it. Both are a kick to drive. The 51 ffPW will never be modified beyond a few bolt on mods as it is too nice and original to butcher.

I took the 51 ffPW to 2 car shows this weekend and it was very well received. The carryall was getting a new clutch master and slave along with a hydroboost for the brakes so it could not go.

I have my carryall with a V8 (350 hp) in it. It has front disk and drums in the back. It has 4.89 gears with 9.00 X16 Michelins with a 2 speed transfer from a ffPW. The radials are really nice to have. Yesterday, I just finished replacing the clutch system and brake vacuum booster with a hydrovac system.

The carryall runs really well travels at 60 MPH with no problems and can cruise for hours at 70 MPH. It is very quiet and very stable down the road. I has been a good conversion and is fun to drive. I seem to be continually improving it. It has more than enough power to climb the hills around here. I would really like to see an over drive in it. I am turning 3000 RPM at 60 MPH with the current set up which is a little much for any decent gas mileage. I could go with a ranger OD or a NV4500 but I need to keep the PTO which.

MY other is a 51 ffPW that is totally stock except for a dual master brake system and vacuum booster. It is the under the floor version by Helitool. The truck is running really well. Possibly the best it ever has. I have replace the non-syncro trans with a NP420 which really made the truck run better and much quieter. The old crash box was worn badly and seemed to suck a lot of power. It has 9.00 x 16 Michelins and 5.83 gears. It will do about 50 MPH down the freeway and struggle up some of the hills around here. It has drum brakes all around. It brakes still suck and I went through a red light with a yard of dirt it in last month. I will put one of the disk brake kits in the front soon and I will also switch from the vacuum booster to the hydro boost after seeing the improvements in the carryall.
