Thanks, but I was not interested in putting a wider tire on the vehicle, just a larger diameter. With the rear end geared so low (and me being loathe to change the differential or ring & pinion) I wanted to go to a tire with a larger diameter to get more speed.

The existing 9.00x16 tires needed to go; they were old, had uneven wear, and were on the verge of failure. I had some SUV-type radials mounted on there by the local truck tire shop as an interim fix. The specific size escapes me but they're about 2" less in diameter than the old tires, which means approximatly a 6% loss in speed. Going with military NDT tires or Superlug mud tires in the 9.00x16 size is an option, but I wanted better control on the road and less noise than those tires would offer.

In light truck radials it's hard to find diameters over 36", but in commercial truck tires it's easy, for example a 10R22.5 has a 40" diameter with the same approximate width as the stock 9.00x16's. Only hitch there is that I'd need to find 22.5" rims that could accomodate the 5x6.875 bolt pattern.
