I have frame and axles powder coated at industrial place after sandblasting to white metal. They claim it will last long time but will not hold up if exposed to UV (as in parked outside in sun long term). He said if I top coated with good paint (I use Imron) or undercoating then the undercoating/paint takes the deterioration factor away (and rock chips issue). I should be able to topc coat with Imron. The eletrostatic powder coating makes sure it blows in all the nooks and crannies. I even had them do uinderside of cab. Any over spray I just top coated with Corlar on top surfaces and the shot with Marine green Imron. I will tar undercoat all of underside so it looks like original. I would never use PC on bumpers or stuff that is subject to chipping - would use Imron instead. Nice thing about doing frame and axles in PC is that they put it on rotating jig, electro stat shot powder and then baked in oven at 600 for an hour or so. Only time will tell if it holds up well but in 20 years I will be selling it anyway - LOL, just my 2 cents (it would be 10 cents now due to inflation but after taxes I only have 2 cents left - sorry)
