I have had bad luck with powdercoat in the past. I went with PPG dp epoxy primer over blasted and preped running boards and top coated with PPG polyurithane, comes out very shiny and durable. Won't chip like hardened paint but whatch out with that hot pressure washer if there is a hole worn in it you can get under and blow off the entire paint job like it was a baloon.
