Lost a dear old friend...need advice

Today while cutting a piece of wood for my barn my skilsaw fied its innards. I know to most of you this isn't a big deal, but my late Dad bought it in 1968 and I inherited it. It's never failed me until today. I'm hesitant to purchase another one. I'd like american made and would love another skilsaw seeing how this one lasted 41 years. Any advice on a purchase???
