I am rewiring my '48 and need some info on how to wire my gauges. My truck has been converted to 12 volt with a positve ground.I have completly rewired everything in the truck, I'm also going to install a fuse block so everything is fused and not dependent on the ammeter, and to protect the voltage regulator. Is this a good idea or am just complicatinng things?
I would like to run my wires to the origional 6-volt ammeter, instead of the 12-volt after market that the previous owner mounted under the dash. How could I use the origional gauge and still power my eletricals? Were all the eletrical components origionally run through the the ammeter, or through some other component under the dash? I just don't want to burn my truck to the ground!!!
