Drew, I have several trucks, some in fair shape, some in parade shape,
I beleive that the best way to keep all of them alive is to USE them!
My 52 B3PW has been most places that I have, it still looks good
and always turns heads when driving around town, but I use it too!
It builds buildings with the Gin-pole, it hauls water, gravel and whatever else!
As for my other trucks, I do not beleive in a ground up 'perfect' truck, as I too would not
dare to use it! Scrapes and scratches add character to the truck!
I like my trucks to look as cosmetically correct as possible, but
I do not fret when they get scratched or dented!
Even my older Army vehicles get a work out, the winch cables are worn
and the scratches are there! But I enjoy using them more than I
would just looking at them! The thrill of having a 50 year old truck
side by side with a new truck and seeing the look on faces when the old
girl performs flawlessly in hard terrain or winching something
that outweighs it 2-1 makes me feel proud to own
these old Dodges! I still get awards in parades too!
The judges seem to know that these are devices of work, not show!
And they generally judge accordingly! All I can say
is ENJOY your truck! It will probably outlast you anyway!
John
