I betcha you been twistin and pryin on that sucker for a while! Now how would I know that?

Here’s the deal:
Get your little pointed tool out of the toolbox. The one that’s 1/8” diameter and comes to a slender point. Also grab that dentists mirror and a small flashlight.

With the flashlight and mirror, you’ll see on the 6:00 bottom position of the knob, a longitudinal slot.

Use the pointy thing and you’ll feel a ridge in the middle of the slot. This is the spring lock. Put your thumb on the knob face and with the pointy thingie, push the spring lock towards the knob face. Takes a bit of push sometimes. Voila’, the knob jumps off at you.
The headlight knob is the same. Choke and throttle knobs are permanently connected.

While you’re at it, take the switches apart. As the Micarta insulation top plates on the 50 year old switches have shrunk over the years, leaving the riveted connections to the wire connectors are loose. Solder these connectors to the rivets to eliminate resistance and burned switches. Do the fuse on the light switch also.
Re grease the slides etc. and reassemble.
Wow.. No more dim or flickering lights!
