In extremely dusty conditions they are the best, as all air going into the engine must first pass through the oil impregnated/saturated filter element after first making it past the downflow into the oil itself, where you will find large culprits like grasshoppers, yellowjackets, and butterflies, especially when running through alphalfa at a good clip. After Mt. St. Helens blew up, I changed on oil bath filter oil ever other day and suffered no engine problems, 30Wt is best when weather is warm, 20Wt otherwise. Keep it, they are messy but very effective unless you never go off road.
