I've used the slave plugs on my M35s a lot, both to start other M35s and to start any MEP series genset. I put one on the M43 that I'm converting to 24 volts, thinking it might be handy for starting dead M35s and gensets.

If you're thinking of using it for 12 volt jumping, with maybe a home-made cable with battery clips on the end, you'd better be sure nobody but you would ever try to use it. Cables are available from the surplus dealers for around $60 the last I checked. They're only about 10' long so you have to get the vehicles close together. I also have a longer cable made out of two lengths of 1/0 house wire with brass tubes soldered over the ends that are the size to fit in the slave plug holes. If you do that, mark the ends clearly so you don't plug them in backwards. Newer MVs use NATO style slave plugs that only have one pin (the shell is the ground). Vehicles being surplussed these days seem to have a mix of types.
