on a engine with that volume and displacment a high volume of compressed air over top a cylinder that is 38 inches will "turn over " with a blast by shear area alone > on monster engines i have worked on a decompression lever is pulled the engine spins by timed air blasts in to the cylinders then compression lever is dumped and engine starts > one set i have seen was that used a ford v8 a 302 cubic inch engine was used to start a very large catapiller engine > the catapiller was sent to 1800 rpm then a clutch on the catapiller was engaged with reduction to spin the monster over with NO compression then once the monster was turning a hundred rpm compression lever dumped and started the monster engine unbelieveable scenerio ~ Copey
