The 217/218 engine does fit in the same as a 230. I'm running a 218 out of a '54 Plymouth. When I first got the engine I thought that it was a 230 until I took it to the machine shop for a rebuild. The only difference that I encountered when I installed the 218 in my WDX was that the flywheel on the 218 was drilled for an 11 inch clutch where as the flywheel from my old 230 engine was drilled for a 10 inch clutch.
