Get all the factory brackets and plastic. Don't cut any hoses, they are expensive. Tape up any open ports as you go, keep this clean. You'll probably have to remove the dash to get all of the duct work.
Stripping the junker truck is good practice. It is such a pita that you'll want the practice before starting on your own.
Put in a new heater core at that time.
