As Clint noticed a few weeks ago a change has taken place with the 51011 sock filters that our old Dodges use. After playing phone tag with the Wix Engineer I got ahold of him today and got the scoop.
Wix used to make the sock filters. Demand for them is not much anymore so they farmed out the production of the 51011 filter. The supplier made the filters a slightly bigger size then what would work. The engineers have since corrected this as I sent them an original 51011 and a new style as well as photos and measurements of the trucks oil filter can. After reviewing all this and determining there was a size problem they have corrected the size. There is still a chance some of the older big filters are still out there. If you encounter a bigger filter take it back to the store. Hopefully this should be the last of the problems.
