All of my sockets here at the aircraft shop are 12 point as the 6 point will strip the 12 point bolts and nuts pretty quickly. We have found that a good quality 12 point socket on an aircraft quality nut/bolt is almost indestructable and will take quite a bit of torque. I agree on the very fine action on the ratchets nowadays-- but that is all we use on the planes given the space restrictions. At home, I keep all my truck tools ! LOL
