Is the ID tag scheme going anywhere in the California legislature. I know lots of states have proposed either requiring serial numbers on ammo or "micro-printing" on firing pins to tie the cartridge to the gun (this assumes the murderer doesn't use a revolver, doesn't pick up his brass, and didn't grind the microprinting off his firing pin) but as far as I know, none of these proposals have gotten very far. Surely the California legislature wouldn't waste time futzing with more gun control when their state's credit rating is lower than Mexico's.
