Why do you think Wallmart & Home Depot are such huge success stories??
How many guys do you know that still buy Snap On tools?? Most guys I talk to like to tell you that the Husky tools at Home Depot, or the Craftsman junk have the same warranty so they somehow equate that to them being as well made.(Most don't truly believe this but the cost factor over-rules any sensible thinking)
When I need a new 1/4" drive socket set...I understand that it will cost $300. If I don't have $300...I'll save until I do. The $30 set isn't worth my fuel to get them home.
Crap is not an option in my life. I just bought a set of speakers for our livingroom...they cost $5500 & are made in the US. I had to save for a long time to come up with that cash but the Chinese junk were never an option...not even a consideration for me at any price.
I don't always buy North American either.
If I can't find what I want made in North America...I'll buy European.
Quality in general is going downhill fast...I agree with you there but you can still find it. You just have to be prepared to pay way more than the alternative & research your purchases.
