What a productive day. My good friend/expert mechanic helped me get two new tires on the front rims, start the engine, and rebuild the brakes all in one day!

We put in new plugs, wires, battery, oil lines and oil filter, radiator hoses, fuel pump, and cleaned the carb. After static timing the engine it fired right up first crack and ran like a top, no smoke. It started with 50# oil pressure and idled at 40# when warmed up.

We rebuilt the master cylinder and the 4 wheel cylinders and have solid brakes. We also mounted the two new tires on the front end and then I took it for a short drive up and down the hill that leads to the shop. That was a great feeling but it was getting dark so we cut the fun short.

I also checked the transmission date and it read 6-4-45. It is a tranny used in a WC 3/4 ton truck with single speed transfer case. They just left the emergency brake drum off the rear and put a threaded plug in the speedo hole when they moved it to the transcase. They must have had quite a few left over trannies when they started production in 46.

Under the the orange door paint I found the original owners sign. Michigan California Lumber Co. from Camino CA. Thats only 5 miles from where I located the truck. A nice round silver logo with a big pine tree in the middle.

Next week I will get it weighed and then titled. After which I can order a build card from Chrysler if there still open for business. After that I hope to have the time off to take it to Hollister
