Dry Transfer material can be bought in Artist Supply stores. I bet Staples also carries it.

Dry transfer usually comes in sheets of Letters and Numbers, all different fonts from small to very large. I plan to buy a sheet of numbers about 48 or 60 font size. We will waste a lot as we only need a tiny area to cover the raised area on the knob. You clean the area well set the dry transfer, face down, over the area where you want transfer and then rub a stylus over the back side. When you put pressure on the back side, the material will transfer to the knob.

Dry Transfer Numbers and Letters come in many
colors. I have used them on electronic instrument panels to label switches/controls. Once they are cleared coated, they are there for keeps. And the center of our knobs where the 'Letter is raised' never will really get touched when you pull the knob.

Do a test on some scrap material to be sure your clear is compatible. I have used the PPG MC-161 High Solids clear on them before with great results. The PPG MC-161 is the clear I use on my trucks over the base color.
