It is not part of the Service Advisor's job
description to understand technical data
his/her job is to clearly write / enter into the computer the customer's complaint/problem
so that a technican can diagnose the problem
recommend repairs/procedures to correct the
the customer's complaint. The Service Advisor's role is to document the repairs on
the repair order so that the dealership will
get paid for the work done. Any other repairs noted by the technician must be approved by the Service Manager before the work starts (we do this with a computer program that only service management has access to)
you might want to check with your ford dealer service manager & ask him to show you
policies & procedures for the service dept.
