Think of how over a barrel they have us, Credit Cards are a major source of your credit rating, yet the companies play all these games with them.

I would happily cut up my credit cards, and live off my debit card and cash, but if I don't use my credit cards and pay them off regularly I will have a hard time getting a loan later if I want to buy a car or something.

What a game! If you can live within your income, and don't need a credit card you are not a good risk to buy a car or house? Aren't those exactly the people that should be buying large ticket items? Those who can manage their own money without a little help every month or so from the credit card company?

Plus other companies are getting in on the game, now you may pay more for car insurance because you have a poor credit score. How is your driving record tied to your credit score?

The whole PayPal/E-bay thing has me a little annoyed, but there is not a whole lot I can do about it, and 90%+ of my payments were from PayPal before the change in rules anyway.

People who pay with PayPal pay nothing, but a Postal money order and a stamp is almost $1.50 per item for the buyer, so I am not surprised at the percentage that used PayPal.

Despite the cost PayPal is easier and gets people their items faster, which results in a happier customer. Back in 2002 when I got 100% checks it was a real pain since I sometimes had to wait 2-3 weeks to get paid. Now I am typically paid within 24 hours on 95% of the transactions. Trust me, I got blamed for late items, even if the buyer had taken 2 weeks to send payment, and I had shipped their item the same day I got payment.

So while the percentage paid to PayPal sucks (and seems a bit high), it is a mixed bag. The higher E-bay fees though have not been matched with what I see as better service, or better sales, so they annoy me more.

Eric
