Well I'm not either person but recovery tanks weren't standard on the 1950 Chrysler Windsor my Uncle owned, and my 61 Desoto didn't have one either.
Most radiators of the time had extra volume built into them as opposed to later vehicles where the overflow tank took up that purpose.
Plus the fact that no one back then cared about dumping a little anti-freeze on the ground.
Naturally they are easily added if you should want to. Cheap plastic kits are even available from most auto parts stores.
