Mike look in the front drivers side wheel well you will see the steering box if you have the factory u-joint still its time to change this out . My 90' Dodge had the same problems you have desribed , when I replaced it whith an after market u-joint it curred all the steering issues I had . When i took the factory unit apart to see what was going on all of the parts inside just fell apart and had a ton of rust allso .
