most auto repair manuals had specific "tune up proceedures" of what & how to check ignition & fuel delivery systems.
Sun Electric also provided work sheets to be
used in the testing process.
you might start with the basics
Compression
spark plug condition (stop when engine cuts out, pull a few plugs & check insulator)
all electrical connections
dwell & timing
vacuum readings (check when it cuts out)
fuel pressure (can put an inline gauge in to
see what happens when it cuts out)
just to name a few
or try to find an "old Time" retired mechanic
(not a "technician") in your area to help you
