In my line of work there are too many that use the shotgun method of diagnosis; order every test under the sun, and see what falls out. This is known as testing to make a diagnosis and is very wasteful. By THINKING in advance, one can eliminate many less likely diagnoses; and indeed one can know in advance what the answer will be. Testing to confirm a diagnosis is much more cost effective, and life saving way to practice...
