I know you want to go 12 volt, but staying 24 volt might be easier and cheaper. Just my idea, you can build it like you want. I used to build boats and over the years we used 3 different voltages, 12, 24, & 32.The only reason we used 12 volt systems is that the smaller engines were available in 12 volt. The higher voltage cranked better and would run more shipboard equipment. Just my ideas.
