I been dissolving some zinc in my phosphoric acid rust-dissolving mixture, it leaves my body parts lightly gray/galvanized. Same as the body-shop acid preps. Then, to get the green-ness, you need to oil the parts and bake in Momma's oven at about 350. I haven't bothered, I've only done body and heater parts. I think the color depends on the oil and baking temps? I bleeve the Garand and 1911 specs are pretty wide on the color, anything from yellow to brown?, just to show that there is that baked on oil.

Anybody got a recipe for black phosphate?
