All the reading I've done says they work without it, but supposedly may take a couple minutes to start outputting. I was planning on using an idiot light when I built the truck. But unless I have to change the alt, and the new one doesn't work, no worries.

Hey, an LED would work too. Bright , little, and a diode to boot!
