I found a combat rim in the desert once. About 1/2 mile down hill from a mine where a couple wc-64s were stripped. Tire was so hard from years in the desert that we broke it off the rim with a hammer. That would have been about 1975, so the tire couldn't have been more than 32 years old. ;)

We were running on 1954 tires at the time. Had on front one lose a foot long chunk of tread at 65 mph- loooong downhill. That chunk hit the fender hard enough to break the head light. Got a ticket from the highway patrol on the way home. Fun trip, it was the shake down cruise of the first PW we owned- 1941 Radio/Panel. I think I've told the whole story here once long ago.
