with a stick / rod reverse polarity and a correct rod > plenty of protective clothing is a must > mig is easier but in all cases lower the heat / amperage > and practice on some scrap steel for a while till you can handle it > in all cases in welding its the preperation that is important > if this is a critical weld get a pro to help you out it would be better in the long run and you dont want a mess either > the welding equipment is so far superior to what I started with many years ago its hard to screw it up if you have the right stuff > weld on dude ~ Copey ps i think its called overhead welding in the trade just the welding guy is upside down
