i agree about never say never. my command car had a larger manual steering box than stock and the other steering parts were 'upgraded' too at some time. the updates were done using off the shelf dodge parts and the steering box was likely for a heavier truck like a 2 ton. the steering wheel was a little difft too. my command had a large r&p in the rear (same gearing) and a small r&p in the front. im assuming these changes and some other subtle ones were done by mercedes, who rebuilt the truck in the 50s. every system had a mercedes tag, and any unit they went through had german bearings and seals. real nice stuff. i worried that i would find metric seals and bearings and that the mb crew machined housings to accept those parts.
