If you have a tractor supply or farm supply, they may carry a type of paint called "slip- plate". They use it on disc's and other implements that routinely go into the soil. I have heard many say they have tried it or would be something worth trying.
I haven't used it, but I have thought about giving that a try if I were to break apart a spring pack to blast and reassemble.
